TSI Lunch Talks

TSILunchTalks

The Monday Lunch Talk series provides a forum for TSI grad students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty members to give short presentations over lunch and then engage in an extended, informal discussion. These lunch discussions are held every other Monday year-round. Speakers are limited to three slides (with unlimited blackboard usage) and are asked to prepare 10 minutes of material for a 30 minute slot; the remaining 20 minutes are filled by questions from the audience and discussion. Speakers may use the opportunity to talk about their research, practice a conference presentation, discuss an interesting finding in their field, or dive deeper into a subject outside their expertise that they’d like to learn more about. Recent lunch talk topics have included life as a winter-over at the South Pole Telescope, a history of the study of stellar winds, inclusive science communication, and an interactive session on representing your research visually through art.
