Title: Targeted Searches for FRBs Using the EVN
Abstract:
I will discuss our targeted fast radio burst (FRB) search approach using the European VLBI Network (EVN) to observe FRB-like environments. In particular, I will present results from our observation of the decaying radio transient J1419+3940, which shares a number of similar properties to the environment of the first repeating fast radio burst, FRB 121102. In addition, I will discuss the work we are conducting on follow-up of CHIME repeating FRBs.
TSI Seminars take place weekly during the Fall and Winter terms. TSI seminars are intended to be accessible to scientists from the entire breadth of backgrounds at TSI, including, Physics, Planetary Science, Geology, Atmospheric Science, and Astrobiology. Our seminar series is partially funded by the Centre de recherche en astrophysique du Québec (CRAQ).
