A free public lecture on the latest exciting topics in astronomy, organized by AstroMcGill. The lecture begins at 7pm on April 18 in the Frank Dawson Adams Auditorium!

Our public lecture this month will be given by Dr. Shriharsh Tendulkar from the McGill Space Institute, who has lead landmark research on observations of Fast Radio Bursts. The talk will also be live streamed, and we will try to take some questions from the online audience - the stream will appear on the AstroMcGill Facebook page when it starts.

In the past decade, astronomers have been detecting mysterious short flashes of radio waves coming from halfway across the Universe. We don't know what these fast radio bursts (or FRBs) are, how they are produced or exactly where they are coming from yet. McGill astronomers and students, along with other Canadian universities, have built the world's best FRB finding telescope and are working to solve the puzzle of FRBs. Join me as I show you how we built our powerful telescope and our latest findings about these bursts.
