Title:"Finding pulsars with Arecibo: the PALFA survey"
Abstract:
Pulsars are used as extremely valuable and unique laboratories, notably for constraining the equation of state of ultra-dense matter and for testing relativistic theories of gravity. Conducting sensitive surveys is essential to finding the most interesting pulsar systems, as well as unraveling the properties of the galactic population. In this talk, I will discuss some of the challenges of pulsar searching and I will describe the PALFA survey, one of the most sensitive large-scale pulsar survey conducted with the Arecibo radio telescope.
