Title: Decrypting the Large Scale Structure of the Universe with spectroscopic surveys: BOSS, eBOSS y DESI.

Abstract: "One of the most surprising cosmological discoveries in the last decades is the accelerated expansion of the Universe. The implications of the acceleration of the expansion of the Universe have inspired an ambitious experimental programs to understand the physics of this phenomenon. There are several prominent probes that allow us to extract information regarding the equation of state of dark energy. In particular, spectroscopic surveys provided a unique opportunity to explore the expansion history of the Universe as well as to measure the growth of structure through the analysis of the large-scale structure in the Universe. During this seminar I will review three spectroscopic surveys: BOSS, eBOSS and DESI. I will explain the different observables that we can use to learn dark energy: the Baryons Acoustic Oscillations(BAO) and the Redshift Space Distortions (RSD). Particularly, I will present the latest eBOSS results for these two observables for LRG sample. Finally I will also briefly present two new observables currently still in development for extracting cosmological information from the Large Scale Structure of the Universe: the Marked Correlation Functions useful for testing modified gravity models and the measurement of Neutrinos in the BAO spectrum."

Upcoming Seminars

TSI Seminars take place weekly during the Fall and Winter terms. TSI seminars are intended to be accessible to scientists from the entire breadth of backgrounds at TSI, including, Physics, Planetary Science, Geology, Atmospheric Science, and Astrobiology. Our seminar series is partially funded by the Centre de recherche en astrophysique du Québec (CRAQ).
