For Science Literacy Week at McGill University, AstroMcGill and MSI are offering a special activity for kids kids ages 6 and up.
Did you know there are “aliens” living in our own backyard? An extremophile is an organism that lives in extreme environments where humans would not survive! For example, there’s a snail that lives at the bottom of the ocean and is covered in scaly iron feet to protect it from the high pressures. Where else in the solar system might we find extremophile alien creatures, and how would they adapt to survive in hostile conditions? In this activity, you’ll use clay to build your own extremophile and then tell us all about where it lives and how it survives in extreme climates!
Registration required, sign up at this link: Registration Form
.**This activity will be led in English, but all materials will be available in French as well. You can also ask questions in French (and other languages, including Spanish!).
AstroMcGill serves as the education and public outreach branch of the McGill Space Institute. To find more science outreach activities at McGill, visit the Faculty of Science's outreach webpage.
